The Investigation Division is looking for highly qualified individuals to fill one (1) permanent full-time Investigator position in the Fresno Investigation Division Office.
The Investigator is a Peace Officer classification [Penal Code 830.3(q)] subject to Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) requirements. Under the direction of the Supervising Criminal Investigator (SCI) I, SCI II, or Chief of the Investigation Division, the Investigator will perform all aspects of a thorough criminal investigation and identify activities to assist the program Deputy Directors in addressing upfront system enhancements to prevent, detect, and deter fraud. The Employment Development Department's (EDD) Investigation Division within the Policy, Accountability and Compliance Branch investigates allegations and suspected violations of the California Unemployment Insurance Code and other laws and regulations pertaining to fraud or wrongdoing to protect the integrity of the EDD's programs and resources. The Investigator, if assigned, may also conduct investigations involving allegations of staff misconduct, embezzlement, extortion, theft, misuse of State property, forgery, internal threats, external threats, and security involving EDD employees or property. To perform these investigations, the Investigator is required to: conduct surveillance and/or undercover operations; perform skip tracing; locate, interview, and interrogate informants, witnesses, and suspects; develop and serve search warrants on multiple premises, businesses, vehicles, ect.; conduct searches and seizures of computers; gather and preserve evidence; provide technical assistance to local, State, and federal law enforcement agencies; write reports of investigation detailing the crime committed, facts or the case, witnesses, and exhibits of proof; make arrests; and testify in court. Travel and investigative activities could be anywhere in California and possibly out-of-State if authorized by the Chief of the Investigation Division. The incumbent is a peace officer as defined in Section 830.3 (q) of the California Penal Code when performing primary duties for the EDD. This position requires passing a background investigation, medical, and psychological examination.
The EDD's Investigation Division is a POST participating agency and thus, this position requires the successful completion of the POST certified Regular Basic or Specialized Investigators' Basic course (candidates are required to successfully complete the POST certified Specialized Investigators' Basic course prior to the end of their probation); successful completion of the Investigation Division's Investigator Field Training Program within one year of appointment; and satisfactory completion of continuing professional training (CPT) of 24 or more hours of POST-qualifying training during every two-year CPT cycle, based on a permanent CPT anniversary date.It is strongly encouraged to apply through your CalCareer Account at .
