TITLE : Software Engineer IV
LOCATION : Maryland Heights, Missouri
JOB SUMMARY: Perform as technical lead for the team responsible for support, troubleshooting, and development of the Spectrum Mobile platform. Provide support for Spectrum Mobile, by investigating, researching, and reaching out to backend teams for assistance. Provide on-call support as part of the rotation for Spectrum Mobile ecosystem. Coordinate with vendors and support teams on problem resolution, defects, design issues, and upgrades. Code, test, and debug new and existing software and make enhancements to existing software using Java, Javascript and SQL. Develop technical documentation such as design documents, run books, and standard operating procedures. Mentor and train junior members of the team. Take ownership of BAU (business as usual) projects and manage them through to completion, handling all aspects from technical to consulting. Responsible for understanding upcoming project deployments and educating the team on changes. Responsible for creating telemetry for any new infrastructure, services, and APIs and delivering well-crafted dashboards for monitoring. Analyze and develop java solutions (industry technology) based on customer requirements. Identify and apply innovative technologies to update existing systems. Troubleshoot and resolve technical problems in a timely and accurate manner to improve application performance and functionality. Assist with the development and implementation of strategies for migration, consolidation, and upgrade of system components. Ensure monitoring and alerting is in place for all critical services, infrastructure, and vendor connections using Splunk, App Dynamics, and DataDog. Create and enhance Splunk and DataDog queries for investigating and identifying root cause of issues, possibly resulting in a formal alert being created for monitoring in the future. Develop and tune dashboards in Splunk and DataDog for monitoring of the Spectrum Mobile Platform. Utilize Agile Development strategy in sprint planning for project lifecycle. Build SQL queries and database lookups.
EDUCATION/REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Information Systems Technologies, Electronics Engineering, or a related field. 4 years of experience: utilizing Agile Development strategy in sprint planning for project lifecycle; coding, testing, and debugging using Java, Javascript and SQL; and building SQL queries and database lookups. 3 years of experience utilizing Splunk and DataDog for investigating issues, building queries used to determine root cause and developing and enhancing queries to provide in depth triage of issues, and performing post implementation support through the examination of code. *A hybrid (in office and remote work) arrangement is available. Experience can be gained during, pre- or post-degree.
