Job title: Senior Research Scientist – Nutrition Formulation

Department / Division: Nutrition Center of Excellence / Research & Development

Salary Range: $107,914/yr - $133,305/yr, plus bonus

Location: Ada, MI (Onsite)

What do we need:

We are seeking an experienced Research Scientist to lead our product formulation activities for new product launches, specializing in Nutrition and dietary supplement products. The delivery formats you will be working with are tablets, capsules, softgels, gummies, beverages and powders with a special focus on tablets, capsules, softgels, and powders.

As a formulator, you will lead product development from discovery to production, focusing on nutritional products. You'll contribute to Idea-to-Market (ITM) teams, delivering expert presentations, interviews, and insights. You'll spend 40% of your time in the lab and 60% on activities like ingredient research, technology mining, concept creation, testing, validation, and collaborating with process and packaging engineers to ensure successful scale-up.

Additionally, you will work closely with internal cross functional partners and will collaborate with external partners to co-develop or outsource new technologies. Your passion will drive the vision for the product and will engage our Marketing team and internal partners on how to promote product benefits and attributes to ABOs around the globe.

Your ability to develop innovative new products will continue to evolve our strong reputation for quality and performance in all areas of what we do in support of the Nutrilite Brand and our product portfolio. This role can offer a strong platform to spotlight your talent on a global scale!

There will be about 10% domestic and international travel in this role.

Required qualifications:

BS, MS, or PhD in Chemistry, Food Science, Pharmaceutical Science or related Science or Engineering discipline

Experience creating Pharmaceutical or Nutritional Supplement products

A combination of education and experience creating products that align to one of the following:

• Bachelor’s degree and 6+ years of experience
• Master’s degree and 3+ years of experience
• PhD and 1+ years of experience

Skills to be successful in the role:

• Strong experience applying the science of dosage form design to dietary supplement product innovation
• Demonstrated formulation experience in design, development, discovery, and delivery with an eye on sensory aspects of the product experience (taste, aesthetics)
• Experience in identifying and leading innovation (technology development) from a delivery format lens
• Product development industry experience in developing nutritional deliveries including standard beverages, food, capsules, tablets, softgels as well as unique formats that are on-trend
• Experience working with global cross-functional project teams and external partners/suppliers
• Ability to create, develop, test, and promote ideas and concepts that inspire
• Openness to experiment with new areas of product development and willingness to flow to work.
• Highly motivated to expand areas of expertise and grow as a technical leader within the organization, driving innovation, knowledge-sharing, and technical excellence to support business goals

The Nutrition formulation team is a group of formulators with backgrounds in VMS, botanicals, probiotics and food type delivery formats. This team is focused on developing & implementing new, highly differentiated products that deliver a differentiated nutrition and wellness consumer experience which includes development of all formats of dietary supplement products. Our technological interests are broad but focused on the emerging science connected with health and wellness.
