Job Title: Remote Bookkeeper (QuickBooks Expert)
Position Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Remote Bookkeeper with advanced QuickBooks expertise to manage day-to-day financial transactions and support accurate financial reporting. The ideal candidate is a self-starter, highly organized, and familiar with nonprofit or healthcare bookkeeping (preferred but not required). You'll work independently while maintaining strong communication with the internal finance team.
Key Responsibilities:
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date QuickBooks records (online version)
* Manage accounts payable and receivable, including invoicing and vendor payments
* Reconcile monthly bank, credit card, and merchant accounts
* Process payroll entries and assist with benefits-related accounting
* Generate monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reports
* Track donations, grants, and restricted/unrestricted funds (if nonprofit)
* Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and audit preparation
* Ensure proper documentation and compliance with financial policies
* Collaborate with the finance team through virtual tools (e.g., Zoom, Slack, Google Workspace)
* Maintain financial confidentiality and data security in a remote setting
Requirements:
* 3+ years of bookkeeping experience, preferably in a remote capacity
* Advanced proficiency with QuickBooks Online (certification preferred)
* Solid understanding of GAAP and bookkeeping best practices
* Strong attention to detail and accuracy
* Proficient in Excel and cloud-based accounting tools (e.g., Gusto, Bill.com, Expensify)
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
* Experience with nonprofit or healthcare financial operations is a plus
Preferred Qualifications:
* QuickBooks ProAdvisor Certification
* Familiarity with donor management software (e.g., Bloomerang, DonorPerfect)
* Experience working with CPA firms or preparing 990 forms
