Under the direction of the Staff Services Manager III, Patient Programs Support Branch, the Staff Services Manager I Specialist (SSMI Specialist) serves as a highly skilled, technical program consultant and subject matter expert of the Patient Education and Rehabilitation Programs (PREP), which includes oversight and support of hospital education programs, the vocational rehabilitation enhancement pilot, and other related programs. The SSMI Specialist serves as a highly skilled technical expert in contract and fiscal management as well as program development and implementation activities to ensure departmental compliance with all laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures governing the programs. In addition, the SSMI Specialist assists the PCCD and hospital program leadership with identifying and addressing programmatic issues and operational needs to improve quality of care.

Working Conditions

• This position reports to the Allenby Building in Sacramento. A hybrid Telework schedule, consistent with the State of California's in-office requirement, may be considered with prior approval from management. The incumbent may also be required to travel throughout California as needed, with prior notice.
• The State’s Commute Programs provide bicycle, mass transit and vanpool incentives to eligible state employees. The State’s mass transit incentive pays 100% of the transit pass up to the IRS maximum of $325 per month in 2025.
• DSH is located in an 11 floor high rise building
• Up to 25% travel maybe required.

Statement of Qualifications

A Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) must be included as part of each application package. The SOQ must be typed, single spaced, in 12 pt. font, and be no longer than two pages in length.  Applications submitted without an SOQ may not be considered.

Your SOQ should address the following questions:

1. Please describe your knowledge and experience as a manager, supervisor, or lead person.
2. Please describe your experience in working with a diverse staff in a fast-paced environment.
3. Please describe your experience with contract and fiscal management.
