Job Title: Medical Technologist – Transfusion (Evening Shift)
Location: Raleigh, NC
Department: Pathology – Transfusion
Shift: Evening Shift | Four 10-hour shifts per week | Some weekends (rotating)
Employment Type: Full Time
Compensation: $28-$35/hour
Sign-On Bonus or Relocation Incentive: Available for eligible candidates

Position Summary:

We are seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist II to join our Transfusion team. This role is critical to delivering accurate, timely, and high-quality laboratory results that support patient care and clinical decision-making. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in transfusion and a passion for collaboration and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities -  The Medical Laboratory Scientist II performs:

• Routine and specialized laboratory tests and other procedures for use in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases.

• Utilizes requisite equipment, instruments, and computer systems.

• Evaluates and reports patient results using considerable independent judgment within the scope of established testing methods.

• Performs quality control procedures and contributes to the maintenance of the laboratory, equipment, and supplies.

• Assists in the development and implementation of new procedures and instrumentation.

• May assume responsibility for one or more laboratory projects or functions such as performance improvement, safety, quality control, regulatory, administrative, staff development, and computer systems.

• Trains new employees and/or students in the theoretical and operational aspects of procedures and serves as a resource for less experienced staff.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

Education:

• Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology required , OR

• Associate's Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology required and a Bachelor's Degree in a related field required with certification/licensure obtained within 6 months of hire , OR

• Associate's Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology with preferred experience.

Licensure:

• Certification by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or equivalent preferred.

Experience:

• At least 2 years of experience in a clinical laboratory performing moderate to high complexity testing preferred.
