Indirect Loan Underwriter II Location Fort Washington, PA : Position Summary
Job Title: Indirect Loan Underwriter II Department: Consumer Lending Reports to: Indirect Lending Manager Cost Center: FLSA Status : Exempt Location: Fort Washington Salary Grade: M/T 20 Job Code: Subordinate Reports : Date Revised : April 2024 Position Summary Analyze indirect loan application packages and approves or denies within Indirect Loan Policy guidelines. Discusses loan alternatives, credit criteria, interest rates and loan documentation with members, dealers, and merchants. Coordinates underwriting process to ensure quick, responsive and accurate lending decisions. Essential Functions - Exercise sound judgment and discretion to approve, counteroffer or deny loan applications under authority delegated.
- Ensure appropriate structure for approved and counter offered loans, setting rate, terms and conditions to limit potential loss and maintain quality in our loan portfolio.
- Manage underwriting duties promptly and accurately while maintaining adherence to our quality service standards.
- Work within precise standardized guidelines with some latitude to make decisions and take initiative to resolve problems or unique circumstances.
- Makes underwriting exception recommendations when warranted and send recommendations to the CLO, VP, Consumer Loan Origination or AVP, Consumer Loan Origination.
- Effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure a positive and clear understanding of loan decisions.
- Additional Functions
- Audit, review or prepare reports as delegated by TruMark Financial management.
- Assists in the due diligence when signing up new dealership or merchant relationships and make recommendations to terminate relationships when necessary for the soundness of TruMark Financial.
- Audit credit quality to identify negative trends which could impact performance. Additionally, track exceptions to policy to identify potential abuse in the program.
- Assist the VP and AVP, Consumer Loan Origination in reporting and tracking system issues which may negatively affect TruMark Financial and the dealerships.
- Assist the Indirect Loan Processors, when necessary, with any funding holdups in order to meet funding standards.
- Responsible for new hire training.
- Keep informed of current trends in consumer credit.
- Assists other underwriters with the performance of their duties as workload and volume may require.
- Remains active in credit union training programs. Complete the position's present curriculum as outlined by completing the following - credit union annual required compliance training and the supplemental courses listed within the prescribed time.
- Completes all other tasks, assignments or functions as assigned and/or required.
Job Requirements - Strict attention to details and thoroughness in the completion of job duties.
- Have a critical understanding of the entire lending origination process.
- Comprehension of auto valuations and title specifications.
- Familiarity with state and federal lending regulations.
- Thoroughly understand loan policies, procedures and guidelines
- Use of computers for various applications, such as database management and word processing.
- Developing constructive and cooperative relationships with others.
- Honesty, integrity, and ethical behavior.
- Willingness to take on responsibility and challenges.
- Responsible for a professional and courteous interaction between TruMark Financial and all indirect dealerships
- Flex time may be necessary to accommodate the needs of the department.
Qualifications - High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of five years solid lending experience within the consumer financial services industry.
- Prior Indirect loan underwriting knowledge/experience.

- Intermediate knowledge of credit underwriting concepts.
- Fundamental knowledge of accounting, finance, and economic principles.
- Knowledge of banking products, services, and systems.
- High reasoning skills including the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to understand new information and apply it to current and future job functions, problem solving, and decision making.
- Ability to apply critical thinking to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions or approaches to problems.

Working Conditions - Moderate sound as in business office with office machines, computers, and people traffic.
