Summary The EH&S Manager oversees the development, implementation, and management of environmental, health, and safety programs to promote employee engagement and ensure regulatory compliance. This role involves coordinating the EHS management system to safeguard human health and the environment. Key responsibilities include preparing and scheduling training on emergency and disaster procedures, workplace safety, hazardous materials management, and PPE safety compliance for all administrative and manufacturing positions.
Responsibilities The following job functions are a basic requirement but are not limited to and may be assigned other duties.
- Conduct environmental, health and safety programs and training to ensure that safe operations and working conditions exist.
- Maintain EHS 300 log, OSHA Form 300, and all other governmental and corporate database records monthly.
- Manage environmental, health, and safety education and training to support regulatory and business requirements.
- Manage the hazmat program to ensure compliance with all federal, state, local, and DOT regulations.
- Investigate all accidents and near misses to determine root cause; ensure containment and corrective actions are completed and properly reported as necessary.
- Perform site audits and lead efforts with management teams to ensure corrective actions.
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of existing and proposed environmental health and safety Federal, State, and local regulations.
- Monitor legal and regulatory updates and proactively integrate changes into policies.
- Provide leadership, support and technical guidance to the managers and supervisors, to ensure programs are developed and effectively implemented, providing safe and healthy working environments for employees.
- Obtain and update operational permits for different government offices; preparation of EH&S reports as required for submission to regulatory authorities.
- Ensure that all operations comply with relevant legislation, company guidelines, standard operating practices and industry business practices.
- Train employees to provide a workplace free of recognized hazards to comply with health and safety regulations.
- Customize PPE plans to meet the specific needs of individuals and departments based on job classifications and responsibilities.
- Cultivate a welcoming and safe workplace culture that prioritizes employee well-being and safety.
- This position may require travel with reasonable advance notice.
Qualifications The following are non-exhaustive qualifications for the position:
- Diploma in electrical/chemical safety OR degree/post graduate diploma in occupational safety, health or environment management from a recognized university/institution.
- Current licenses or certifications required by the position: OSHA, ISO, EHS, OSHAS, ISO14001, CSP, CIH, OSHAS18001, HAZ, VPP.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering, Health, Industrial Science, Environmental Science, Management, Technical, Chemistry, Environmental Engineering.
- 5+ years of progressive EH&S experience
- 3+ years of experience in an aerospace or defense environment is preferred.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, including proficiency in conveying technical terms and concepts in clear, accessible language.
- Experience with flight systems/knowledge of flight safety preferred.
