Job Description

Umpqua Health is recruiting a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant to support our commitment to providing high-quality, accessible, and patient-centered care. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in both clinical and administrative functions, ensuring smooth patient flow, delivering hands-on support during medical procedures, and fostering a welcoming environment for all members. In this role, you’ll assist providers across primary care and behavioral health services while contributing to our organization’s recognition as a Patient-Centered Primary Care Home (PCPCH). Your efforts will help optimize patient outcomes and enhance the effectiveness of our care delivery systems.  Your Impact:  Serve as the first point of contact for patients by creating a welcoming, supportive environment and clearly communicating provider instructions.  Perform clinical tasks including obtaining and recording vital signs, patient medical histories, and current medications.  Support providers during medical procedures such as pap smears, suture removals, laceration repairs, and more, ensuring safety and comfort for patients.  Administer first-aid treatment and life-support care under provider supervision.  Conduct in-house lab tests and assist with specimen collection and preparation in accordance with clinical protocols.  Carry out medical tasks such as phlebotomy, ear lavage, EKGs, applying splints and ace wraps, and administering medications and vaccinations.  Provide emotional and personal care support to patients as needed.  Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR) system, including inputting patient orders, prescriptions, and referrals.  Assist with appointment scheduling, patient check-ins, and health education by distributing written materials and relevant information.  Collaborate with healthcare teams across primary care, urgent care, and behavioral health to ensure continuity and coordination of care.  Uphold infection control and clinic safety standards by maintaining clean and organized workspaces.  Monitor inventory usage and ensure efficient supply management in line with clinic protocols.  Follow all organizational policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements to support compliance and quality standards.  Perform other duties as assigned to advance Umpqua Health’s Vision, Mission, and Organizational Values.  Your Credentials:  ~ High school diploma or equivalent required.  ~0–4 years of experience in a clinical or medical office setting preferred.  ~ Demonstrated ability to measure and document vital signs accurately (blood pressure, pulse, temperature, etc.).  ~ Proficient in phlebotomy and administering vaccinations and medications to both adult and pediatric populations.  ~ Experience using medical devices such as EKGs, AEDs, and ultrasound preferred.  ~ Up-to-date vaccinations required, including but not limited to hepatitis, MMR, tetanus (COVID-19 vaccination preferred or documented medical/religious exemption).  ~ Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA), or the ability to obtain certification within 90 days of hire.  ~ Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems and familiarity with health information technology tools.  ~ Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with patients and care teams.  ~ Must not be suspended, excluded, or debarred from participation in federal healthcare programs such as Medicare or Medicaid.  About Umpqua Health At Umpqua Health, we're more than just a healthcare organization; we're a community-driven Coordinated Care Organization (CCO) committed to improving the health and well-being of individuals and families throughout our region.
